UPGRADE TO THE NEXT LEVEL WITH BMW

Maybe you just got a promotion, maybe your starter car just drove its last mile, or maybe you decided to just go for it because you deserve something better; whatever the reason, now may be the time to upgrade your ride from the base level to the next level. BMW offers tons of reasons to spring for the higher trim level, and BMW of Silver Spring is here with the details.

There are few manufacturers that can inspire the hearts of automotive enthusiasts the world over—as well as set the gold standard for quality and innovation—quite like BMW can. The number of legendary cars that have rolled out of Bavaria wearing the famous blue and white emblem are too many to number. And today, the vehicles coming from BMW have numerous different options and trim levels that can transform your vehicle from excellence to ethereal.

BMW is famous for its numbered naming convention for each different model it produces. In addition to the number indicating the model (2 Series, 3 Series, 4 Series, etc), there other number and letter combinations that further define each individual BMW. One of the most exciting introductions to the BMW family in recent years is the new BMW iPerfomance Models. These electric and plug-in hybrids represent the future of the brand and are some of the finest electrified cars on the road.

The numbers following the model designation give a rough indication of the vehicle's power output. While each is engineered to be the absolute best, opting for packages that improve the vehicle’s power output do actually change how each vehicle is named. For example, a 328 Sedan makes slightly less power than the 335 Sedan. The ‘i’ and ‘d’ following the numbers refers to the vehicle begin either powered by a gasoline or diesel engine. BMWs four-wheel drive system is called xDrive, while two-wheel drive is referred to as sDrive. The names ‘Gran Coupe’ and ‘Gran Turismo’ refer to two unique styles of vehicle BMW produces.

BMW also offers three different trim levels that customers can choose from: Luxury Line, which upgrades wheels and interior trim, xLine which is available on the ‘X’ lineup of SUVs, and the Sport Line that adds features like a sports steering wheel and sport seats. In addition, the M Sport Line available on select BMW models  upgrades wheels, includes a sports instrument cluster, and employs special aerodynamic pieces.

And finally, probably the most famous letter any BMW can have is the mighty ‘M’ badge. That one letter denotes a vehicle that is endowed with the full weight of BMW’s performance know-how. M-cars are revered the world over for their incredible performance and legendary racing history. When you see an ‘M’ on the back of a BMW, know that it means business.
