SEE MORE WITH THE LATEST IN VEHICLE CAMERA TECHNOLOGY FROM BMW

A recent report from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) says “rearview cameras, soon to be standard on all new vehicles, can be expected to prevent nearly 1 in 6 police-reported backing crashes.” In light of this, BMW is already ahead of the pack, including the latest in-vehicle camera technology to help you maintain awareness of your surroundings and stay safe on the roads.* Take a look at some of the latest vehicle camera innovations from BMW:

Rear Park Assist Camera (pictured above)*

As mentioned above, a rearview camera is not only vital, it’s soon to be a requirement in all vehicles. Luckily, the rearview camera from BMW is top of the line. Simply shift the vehicle into reverse, and the screen automatically displays the rearview video. Not only does it feature crystal clear, full-color video displayed on an in-dash, high-definition LCD screen, it also features colorful guidelines to help you properly angle your reverse. As seen below, the display will also show visible alerts to help you judge distances in your path when reversing.

3D Surround View Camera

Parallel parking no longer has to be intimidating with the available 3D Surround View Camera. When activated, the vehicle uses combined video from multiple external cameras to create a top-down birds-eye-view, making parking in the city a breeze. And if you have the BMW ConnectedDrive app (pictured below) installed on your smartphone and synced with your vehicle, you can access that live video feed and see your vehicle's surroundings remotely from anywhere in the world.

Dual Side View Cameras

Another great innovation is an available pair of cameras built into the grille of the vehicle. It can be easy to miss pedestrians or other traffic coming around tight corners, so these cameras in the nose can help the driver see at angles. With the push of a button, the dual images display on the vehicle's in-dash LCD screen, making it easier than ever to look both ways before you cross the street.

Panoramic Front Camera

An available wide-view camera installed in the grille also helps to see approaching traffic at turns. As seen below, this video feed can also alert you to approaching traffic coming from around tight corners.
