BMW Wins Multiple Awards in the J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality Study

BMW prides itself on quality, ergonomics, and reliability. It’s no surprise then that these are the attributes that have propelled the brand to the top of this year’s J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality Study. Speaking of reliability, part of the Initial Quality Study focuses on that attribute specifically. J.D. Power and Associates measure reliability by surveying tens of thousands of American car buyers on their experiences with their vehicles in the first three months of ownership.

The Initial Quality Study is comprehensive, measuring 233 separate points, including Exterior, Ventilation and Air, Driving Experience, and more. This year, BMW topped the charts in three different segments: the BMW 2 Series (Small Premium Cars), BMW 4 Series (Compact Premium Cars), BMW 5 Series (Midsize Premium Cars).

But vehicle quality isn’t the only place where J.D. Power and Associates has given BMW top marks. They also examine the world’s auto manufacturing plants in terms of their production standards, which they measure by looking at the number of faults and malfunctions are present in vehicles delivered to customers. This year’s Platinum Plant Quality Award 2015, given to the world’s best auto manufacturing plant, went to the BMW in Rosslyn, South African, where the company makes its BMW 3 Series.

In addition to the Platinum Plant Quality Award, BMW also secured the Silver Plant Quality Award 2015 for its plant in Dingolfing, Germany, where the BMW 3 Series, BMW 4 Series and BMW 5 Series are made. The award goes to the second-best car factory in the Europe/Africa region after BMW Plant Rosslyn. This makes BMW the best car plant in Europe.
