JOHN BALDESSARI TRANSFORMS BMW MODEL INTO WORK OF ART

BMW car 19 featured at Art Basel Miami Beach

BMW vehicles are true works of art and are designed with the highest regard for performance, innovation, and last but not least, style. Artist John Baldessari joined the ranks of Andy Warhol, Alexander Calder, and Jeff Koons when he premiered his BMW M6 GTLM artwork at Art Basel Miami Beach in late 2016.

John Baldessari, a native of National City, California, has had his work featured in over 200 solo exhibitions and over 1,000 group exhibitions throughout the United States and Europe. He brought his conceptual artistic style, including the use of dots and primary colors, to art car number 19. And just in case anyone was unsure of the vehicle's capabilities, he also painted the word “FAST” on the side.

When asked what it was like to design the vehicle, Baldessari confessed it was a challenge. “I’ve never designed anything three-dimensional. Working on it from all different directions, I was happy with how it came out.”
